The final pathway in the Ara mātua parenting pathway series supports whānau in raising young children and links to the 3 to 5 years checklist.

This Ara mātua parenting pathway identifies practical things parents can do to help strengthen their relationship with their child, and build parenting confidence.

Whānau can now have full conversations with their child and share jokes with each other. Children will know who most of their whānau are and many in their wider whānau. They know how to behave in different places, like the marae, kōhanga, or visiting the doctor. They can take on small responsibilities and make independent choices, but they still need structure, routine and whānau rules to guide and help them to feel safe.
